7th SEA Jam 2008
Fri 22 - Sun 24 February 2008
Costa Sands Resort (Sentosa)

For our 7th annual SEA Jam, we once again bring you our beloved Frankie Manning (USA), Mattias and Hanna (Sweden) and Bruno and Vero (France). The theme for this year’s SEA Jam is “Frankie Manning: Ambassador of Lindy Hop”, the autobiography he just published. Come along for inspiring workshops, life changing parties and an unforgettable talk and book signing session with Frankie!

Ambassador of Lindy Hop
We will have a few copies of Frankie’s book for sale and for him to autograph. The price is S$45. Please indicate early if you would like to reserve a book.

SEA Jam 2008 is based on Frankie’s autobiography – Frankie Manning, The Ambassador of Lindy Hop. Everything from the classes to the parties will be inspired from this book which recounts his rich and wonderful contributions to the dance we love so much.

So read on to see what we have in store for you!

INSTRUCTORS
Frankie Manning
94 this year, Frankie still out-dances anyone in the room. A Lindy Hopper in the Savoy Ballroom in the 1920s, Frankie has been in movies, stages and dance floors around the world. As a Lindy Hop pioneer, Frankie developed many of the moves that we see nowadays, including several of the spectacular airsteps. A session with Frankie is always inspiring and unforgettable. Frankie just published his autobiography “Ambassador of Lindy Hop”. [www.savoystyle.com]

Mattias Lundmark and Hanna Zetterman
Formerly of the Harlem Hotshots, these dynamic dancers are two of the most highly sought-after instructors today. We are excited to have them here to continue their work in developing our dance ability! Apart from Lindy Hop, they are also dynamic performers in Charleston, Tap and Jazz. Their creative and energetic style is full of cheeky spirit that makes them so inspiring! [www.harlemhotshots.com]

Bruno and Vero David
(Toulouse, France)
Bruno and Vero own a dance studio in Toulouse, France where they teach Lindy Hop, Balboa, Salsa and Rock and Roll. They throw great parties too! Bruno and Vero have taught in Herräng (Sweden), Switzerland and the UK, and we are pleased to welcome them to Asia for the first time. [www.144danceavenue.com]

WORKSHOPS
Classes in 20s Charleston, Lindy Hop, Balboa and authentic Jazz steps for intermediate and advanced Lindy Hoppers as well as other specialilty classes too.  We are also organizing an unforgettable talk and book signing sessions with Frankie!

Each workshop is inspired from a chapter or highlight from the book and the instructors have been given free rein to interpret it in their own special style that makes them the great Lindy Hoppers of this generation.

Friday Night Welcome Party
– Black and Blue
(Costa Sands Resort)

Black and Blue was musical revue celebrating the black culture of dance and music in Paris between World War I and World War II. It played in New York’s Broadway between Jan 89 and Feb 91. Together with Cholly Atkinson, Henry LeTang and Fayad Nicholas, Frankie won a Tony Award for Choreography in 1989.
